Our entire range of wheel options are curated by our mechanic, Michael, who also takes care of building each wheel by hand. Michael has over 20 years of experience in bicycle workshops and brings both key knowledge of brands and wheel assembly that will make your new wheelset a lifetime product.

Purposefully Traditional
With so many new trends appearing on wheels we have chosen to keep things simple and strong. We stock and build with components we trust, that are going to last and that are easily serviced, no carbon spokes, internal nipples and hookless rims here.
We only build with regular J-bend spokes and external brass nipples that can be sourced almost anywhere, and are far less likely to fail to begin with. We also utilise even, symmetrical spoke patterns that spread load and provide full support under braking and cornering. All custom wheels from MDV are supported with our "On The House" guarantee (see more below).
Traditional doesn't mean they can't be competitive as well as tough, we can build you something reliable and super light, even down to sub 1200g with no carbon spokes in sight! They're competitive on price as well, our carbon wheels start from £800 for the pair and, in some cases, can be the same weight and over £1000 less than some big name complete wheel competitors!

On The House
We believe in our wheels as a long term investment for you and your bike, and as such, if your wheel of choice meets our criteria, you will receive the following benefits with any custom wheelset purchase:
- Any broken spokes replaced for free, on the house*.
- Wheel true and tension check at no extra charge when your bike is brought in for service, even if the service booked does not usually include this.
- Free drop in wheel truing for life!
- Crash replacement service: We will replace any broken rim at at a heavily discounted rate.
- Half price labour for bearing replacement on any hub when required out of the warranty period (Excluding Chris King)
To qualify your wheelset must:
- Have all components supplied and built by Maison du Velo
- Have 24 or 32 spokes front and rear
- Be built in a 2 or 3 cross pattern (radial front if rim brake is also covered)
- Use DT Swiss Competition J-bend (2.0/1.8) OR Sapim CX-Ray J-bend spokes
- Use DT Swiss Pro Lock brass external nipples
OTH guarantee will be void if:
- The wheel is found to have been worked on by any other bicycle shop.
- Your new wheelset is initially fitted to your bike by a party other than Maison du Velo.
- The wheel has been misused or not used for intended purpose.
- There is corrosion or oxidisation present on the spokes or nipples.
- *OTH free spoke replacement is void if the wheel has been in involved a crash or sustained large impact.
