Summer Solstice Ride 2024!

Join us for the 9th Annual Solstice Ride!

Celebrate the longest day with a scenic group ride to the top of Ditchling Beacon!

NEW ROUTE courtesy of Marcus Brueton! Time for a reset! The old route had a really busy beginning to it before we got to the pretty bits, and at that time of day, it was always busy with rush hour traffic.  So the new route should hit the lanes and stay on them from the beginning and will become the Blue Riband benchmark for the future.

This fun, non-competitive, THIS IS NOT A RACE event is a great way to enjoy the summer solstice with mates and mates soon to be made.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Date: Wednesday, June 19th, 2024
  • Start Time: Flexible! Teams can leave anytime between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
  • Target Return Time: Aim for 8:00 PM - 8:30 PM.
  • Location: Starting and ending at Maison du Velo.

Team Up

Plan in Brief.

  • Groups of 2 to 6 (6 max) (Chat with your mates and form a group, or sign up and we can help and create groups)
  • Follow the supplied route. Download to GPS
  • Groups must come past the strava segment start which will allow each rider to compete against themselves in a non-competitive non-race manner.
  • If you come up to another group please do not join and merge, let them through and past.
  • Photo evidence of a group selfie at the top of Ditchling Beacon must be added to your Strava ride.
  • Please come up with a team name – And post it in your Strava Ride Title when uploading.
  • PLEASE WhatsApp me privately with your team's name and riders' names
  • Solo riders? Don't have a team? No problem! We can help connect you with other riders. WhatsApp me privately or WhatsApp the main group with your average Thursday night speed and let's hook you up. Or start chatting to people on your next TNT ride!
  • Rules and timings etc are loose and it is a ‘Just for fun’ ride.
  • Each team is allowed to drop one member in case they 'blow up'. So a team of 6 will have their time measured on the 5th man & or woman across the line; A team of 4 will have the time of their 3rd man & or woman across the line etc.

FOOD AND DRINK AFTER

In the Shop

  • Drop off a ruck sack in the shop beforehand with warm jumper/jacket to use to stay warm after the ride.
  • Ice cold beers will be available at the shop.
  • FOOD - We suggest each individual team clubs together and orders a Deliveroo specific to their team. There will be staff in the shop to sign for it and keep it (Relatively) warm until your arrival. ENSURE YOUR TEAM NAME IS IN THE DELIVEROO ORDER DETAILS.
