We are looking for a full time (5 days a week) mechanic.

Maison du Velo has been open in Cranleigh, Surrey since January 2016 and has a very busy and varied workshop.

The ideal canditate needs to be enthusiastic, competant and experienced in the day to day running of a cycle workshop.

We get road, mountain, hybrid and children's bikes through the workshop daily, so you need to feel comfortable working on all these types of bikes.

Cytech level 2 is a minimum qualification is a nice to have, but not essential with experience. Experience in suspension, wheel building, electronic gearing and internal cable routing is a must.

Assistant Manager

We are an independent bike shop based in Reigate and soon to be Cranleigh. We specialise in MTB’s Road bikes and kids bikes. We have excellent bike fitting and workshop facilities in house.

We aim to create a relaxed ‘all welcome’ vibe within the local cycling community and this is achieved by the casual/comfy café within the shop. The fundamental aim of MDV is to create a unique customer experience by maintaining an exacting ‘customer is always right, unless they’re wrong, in which case they’re still right!’ ethos.

The Cranleigh store is on the door step of the Surrey Hills with its excellent MTB trails. With this in mind the Cranleigh store will need MTB experienced staff. The assistant manager will be a highly self-motivated person, who has previous retail experience within the trade, and extensive up to date knowledge of MTB, components and leading brands. Road bike knowledge also useful but not essential. Mechanical ability and knowledge of bike fitting is preferred.

You will be responsible for dealing with customers both in the shop and in-house cafe, focusing on excellent service through all sales channels.  You will be responsible for helping to develop and implement marketing plans through various media sources (Social media basically!) The shop will be open 7 days a week. There will be plenty of support and experience with training on the cafe side.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bike knowledge
  • Ability to deal with customers and other staff in a professional manner
  • Keen bike rider

Main duties:

This role is a hands-on position and will involve constant direct interaction with customers. The following list is not exhaustive but illustrates the scope of the responsibilities involved.

  • Serving and advising customers
  • Creating in-store displays and merchandising
  • To offer excellent customer service and professionalism at all times
  • Focusing on increasing customer numbers and customer satisfaction
  • Making steps to ensure that the shop looks exceptional every day we are open - from cleanliness to product displays, from seating layout to branded packaging.
